Maintenance in Jonathan Dickinson State Park (day or overnight)

October 13, 2023 @ 7:30 am - October 15, 2023 @ 2:30 pm

**Description**
Join Amy on a weekend work as we maintain the footpath trails in Jonathan Dickinson State Park. Feel free to join us for a day or two or three or camp out for one night or the weekend! I am looking for volunteers to assist with the mowers, hedge trimmers, and hand tools to mow, clip and blaze. Weather, standing water and crew size will impact the amount of work we get done.

We will work Friday, October 13th, Saturday, October 14th and Sunday, October 15th. In your RSVP, please indicate which day/days you will be in attendance and/or if you are camping out. OR, email me amyjean214@gmail.com.

Work crews will meet at the Equestrian Center/Eagles Nest campground in JD at 7:30 am each day. Early access to the park will be provided to those who will not be camping out. For non-campers, expect to work until at least noon but stay as long as you like as work will continue throughout the day.

**FEE:** There is a fee to enter the park, but the *fee will be waived for all registered volunteers.*

**Camping:** For those who are camping out, our crew will camp at the Eagles Nest (Equestrian) campground which has water, electric and access to showers. Campers will need to provide their own camping gear, (tent, sleeping bag, food, stove, personal items, etc.)

**Meals:** Everyone must bring their own meals and snacks. There are plenty of local restaurants in the area as well. I will have Gatorade, water and snacks available.

**What to expect:** We will use a combination of power equipment and hand tools to maintain the trails. The trails we will work on are OTLHT (Orange), White and Green.

**What to bring:** All participants must wear long sleeves, long pants, closed toe shoes, day pack and work gloves. A hat, sun screen and bug spray might be a good idea depending on the weather. Please bring a clipping tool (hand clippers, loppers, hand saw) if you have one. I will bring extras.

If you plan to work with the mower or hedge trimmer, please bring a hard hat, protective eye wear and ear protection.

Join our crew and lets have some fun!
