Public/Strenuous
Let’s do 12 miles on the Apoxee Trail! This is the City of West Palm Beach’s wetlands. The hiking is mostly done on a gravel road. The wetlands offer a fantastic variety of scenery and wildlife including birds, alligators, turtles and on rare occasion, otters!
Gates open at 7:00, so let’s arrive there then for a 7:15 departure. Please bring at least 2 liters of water and a snack for our break.
**We will be moving at a fast pace (we averaged under 20:00 per mile without breaks last week) so if you are not an experienced hiker capable of moving fast, this is not the hike for you**.
Please bring a hat as there is not a lot of shade on this trail.
If you have questions or trouble finding the parking lot, call me at 561-346-7005.
NOTE: The Jog Road parking area is closed. We will be meeting at the Palmetto Trailhead at 6600 45th St, West Palm Beach, FL 33412.
