OUTshine LGBTQ+ Film Festival Presents Its Centerpiece Film & Ladies Spotlight Film – Hot Milk

The OUTshine LGBTQ+ Film Festival spring edition, internationally acclaimed as one of the largest LGBTQ+ cultural festivals in the world, is pleased to present the international premiere of its Centerpiece Film – Accidental Friends (Amici Per Caso) (Italy, 2024), an odd-couple romantic comedy. The film screens at 7:30 p.m. on April 24 at Regal Dania Pointe (128 Sunset Drive) in Dania Beach.

Pietro, a hunky passionate Roma football fan, is devastated when his girlfriend Lolly dumps him, tired of being second to football and his friends. Meanwhile, Omero, a refined young gay man, is also left by his partner after an embarrassing public proposal. Needing a roommate to afford his home, Omero ends up living with Pietro. Their unlikely cohabitation works until Omero reveals he’s gay, forcing Pietro to confront his own prejudices. When Pietro finds Lolly with another man, Omero unexpectedly helps him win her back, making Pietro realize that having a gay friend might not be so bad after all.

In Italian with English subtitles, the film runs 94 minutes.

The film screens at 7:30 p.m. on April 26 at Paradigm Cinemas: Gateway Fort Lauderdale (1820 E. Sunrise Blvd.).

Hot Milk explores the complex bond between a single mother and her daughter against the sun-drenched backdrop of Almería. Rose (Fiona Shaw) and Sofia (Emma Mackey) travel to the Spanish seaside to seek a cure from Dr. Gómez for Rose’s mysterious illness, which has left her in a wheelchair. In this sultry town, Sofia, long trapped by her mother’s condition, is drawn to the enigmatic and free-spirited Ingrid (Vicky Krieps), awakening newfound freedom. As Sofia pulls away, Rose’s control tightens, and simmering resentments rise. Under the scorching sun, their fragile relationship, and that between Sofia and Ingrid, teeters on the edge, threatening to unravel in a dramatic and emotional reckoning

This season’s OUTshine line-up hits Miami-Dade and Broward counties with thought-provoking, inspiring, entertaining and educational star-studded features, documentaries and shorts including premieres from 20 countries. The festival runs through May 4.
