Public/Strenuous
Let’s do 12+ miles on the Apoxee and Owahee Trail systems! We tried this right after Hurricane Milton and found it closed but I called the City today and it is open. They told me the Apoxee lot is open so we will meet there.
This is the City of West Palm Beach’s wetlands. The hiking is mostly done on a gravel road. The wetlands offer a fantastic variety of scenery and wildlife including birds, alligators, turtles and on rare occasion, otters!
Gates open at 7:00, so let’s arrive there at 7:30 for a 7:45 departure.
Please bring at least 2 liters of water and a snack for our break.
Temperatures are forecast between mid 70’s to mid 80’s with little chance for rain.
**We will be moving at a fast pace. I strive for under 20:00 per mile. If you are not an experienced hiker capable of moving fast, this is not the hike for you**.
Please bring a hat as there is not a lot of shade on this trail.
