Charles H. Bronson State Forest 13 Miles

November 2, 2024 @ 8:00 am - 1:00 pm

Public/Strenuous

**NOTE: Charles H. Bronson State Forest is open for hiking (but not camping) as of 10/23 so this event is on!**

This hike is for experienced hikers that have regularly been hiking 10+ miles! We move fast. This will be tough but is a beautiful hike.

We will hike at a quick pace on the Florida Trail, White Trail and Connector trail to complete a loop of about 13-miles at the Charles H. Bronson State Forest. We will stop for some small breaks and take our main break around the midpoint of the hike to cool down and have a snack.

Let’s meet at 8:00AM at the Florida Trail Joshua Creek Trailhead. We will start hiking no later than 8:20AM. This is an active hunting area, so wear bright clothing.

I would expect to encounter downed trees, maybe some standing water, and a bit of mud on this hike.

This is an active tick area and I recommend pretreating your clothes with Permethrin.

Bring 3+ liters of water, some electrolytes, and food. I also recommend extra water on this one. I ran out on this trail a couple of years ago. I recommend a hat and a cool towel for this one. We will be in shade but there are some open areas.

There is a $2 day pass you can get at https://floridastateforests.reserveamerica.com.
