Let’s start March off with a camping trip! Highlands Hammock State Park has great hiking trails and a paved road perfect for bike riding. A great place for birding and to possibly view other wildlife. Please read the description before signing up. We will be primitive camping at the group 2 primitive campsite. The Fee is $5.00 a day and will be collected at the park. There is NO water and electricity. There is a picnic table and campfire circle, and a solar outhouse within walking distance. We will park our cars and have a short walk in. Full-service restrooms with showers are available at the family campground. If you prefer to camp in the family campground with water and electricity, make your own reservation and let me know you will be there. The park does not have wifi. There is a Civilian Conservation Corps Museum that is very interesting if you have not been. Highlands Hammock was one of the first state parks in the state built by the Civilian Conservation Corps.
You will need to bring your own tent, sleeping gear and food for the weekend. I would suggest bringing bug spray and sunscreen. If you have a bike I would suggest bringing it. The park is excellent for riding bikes and hiking so bring your hiking gear too. Bring firewood to enjoy a campfire at night. You only need to RSVP here to let me know you are attending. Call the park if you want a campsite with water and electricity.
