**Looking for a challenge?**
Join Amy for a rucking event, where you’ll challenge yourself with a fast pace (3-4 MPH / 16 to 20 minute mile pace), build strength and endurance, and enjoy the great outdoors while making new friends! Typically you would wear a weighted backpack, but this is NOT required. However, you will need to BRING BUG SPRAY, sunglasses and carry at least 1 liter of water and maybe a snack.
Since this is a straight out and back, it will be OK for folks to lengthen or shorten this hike for their abilities.
We will meet at 7:00am at Arthur R. Marshall on 441 in Boynton Beach – drive to the back Parking Lot and we will walk on the levee along the canal. Time permitting, we can walk on the grassy trails too.
**There is a gate and an admission fee of $10.00 per vehicle unless you have a National Park Pass. I know the daily use fee is high, but feel free to “donate” what you can if $10 is too much. Also, this will be the last RUCK in this location for the summer, I will change the location for the next RUCK. Packs on and moving no later than 7:15am. Please be prompt.**
We shouldn’t get our feet wet but you will sweat!
**What the heck is rucking?**
Rucking is a form of physical exercise that involves walking or hiking with a weighted backpack (rucksack). It is derived from military training, where soldiers often carry heavy packs for long distances. The term “ruck” is short for “rucksack,” which is a type of backpack.
Rucking is a full-body workout that builds strength, endurance, and cardiovascular fitness. It is an effective way to increase calorie burn, develop functional strength, and improve posture. Rucking can be done by individuals of varying fitness levels and can be modified to suit specific training goals or needs. IE, start light and work your way up to a heavier load.
