If you keep up with Paul you will walk a little over 3 miles in a hour… but if you are not up for it you can slow to your own pace and shorten the distance. \nReminder: Dogs are not allowed on our outings. \nContact Paul Cummings\, 561-596-4423. \nPublic/Leisure \nThis is a BIG park with several entrances. Use the entrance on Congress Avenue between Lantana Road and 6th Ave S. Go east to the first intersection and make a right. In about 50 yards turn left into the first parking lot you come to. The numerous times I have been to this walk our group has been the only ones in the parking lot.

SUMMARY:8 Mile Extended Loop de Loop Dupuis Hike
DESCRIPTION:We will start at **Gate 2** and hike loops 1 and 2 (see map) for approximately 8 miles. This is a hot and physically strenuous hike\, but worth it! There is little to no shade on the trail so a hat and plenty of water is a must! No water\, no hike! So be prepared! \n**NOTE:** Expect the trail to have overgrown vegetation\, standing water and/or muddy trails. \n**Everyone has to sign up individually through Meetup.** \nLet’s meet at **7:15 a.m.** at Gate 2 parking lot. We will start hiking no later than **7:30 a.m**. Give yourself extra time since the Google Maps sometimes takes you to the wrong entrance. Please follow the directions so you don’t get lost. We start on time\, so please don’t be late or you will be hiking by yourself! \n**Public/Strenuous – We will be hiking at a moderately fast clip.** \n**Items to bring:**\nWater – 2-3 liters\nWalking stick\nHat\nSnacks\nBug spray\nSunscreen\nExtra pair of shoes (after hike)\nCan do attitude! :) \n**Contact:**\nGloria H. DESCRIPTION:Starvation Slough 12 Miles \nThis will be a 6 mile in 6 mile out hike a segment of the Florida trail along the Kissimmee River floodplain. This section features huge historic oaks and a few wild orange trees! We will hike in and take a break at a campsite with some picnic tables. \nIt has been very dry and I don’t expect much water however there are two creeks/canals we will need to cross so expect your feet to get wet. \nYou must bring at least 2 liters of water. Bring a snack if you’d like. \nThere is a nice campsite here\, you can call the SFWMD for the access code. \nDirections: Follow US 98 north from Okeechobee 16 miles\, passing through the community of Basinger. Turn right on Micco Landing Rd at the Basinger Community Center. Follow Micco Landing Rd north for 8 miles. Turn left into the entrance for Starvation Slough and follow the dirt road to the trailhead.
