SUMMARY:Beginner Backpacking to Scrub Jay
DESCRIPTION:Although this is a short beginner backpacking trip it is a difficult short overnight backpacking trip. This trip will be very similar to my first backpacking trip 31 years ago that Sunny Piskura took me on (pictured) the weekend before Halloween. Lets meet at the parking lot at the front gate of Jonathan Dickenson State Park at 10am Saturday morning. No need to get a real early start\, but also get to Scrub Jay camp before it get very warm. Assuming it’s going to be a warm day.\nThis loop closely replicates the route from 31 years ago. It will be starting with the Green loop from the front parking lot heading north over the dunes. then over the US1 bridge outside the park\, joining up with the OTLHT\, and on to Scrub Jay. Sunday we’ll go south joining up with the white loop until we get to the train tracks and main park road intersection\, Then joining the Green loop heading south on the east side of the tracks following it to the entrance of the park where we started. Only 11.5 miles round trip\, but challenging trails with the dunes\, sand and possibly flooded trails.

DESCRIPTION:Halloween in the Farms including ATV’s\, Golf Carts\, e-bikes\, side by sides\, walkers… No cars for trick or treating.\nArrive prior to the beginning of Trick or Treating for set up and avoid the kids/people in the streets. This has traditionally been a large event with lots of kids. Yes\, the parents/neighborhood has as much fun as the kids.\nIt is OK to dress for the occasion if so desired \nBring Candy\, a dish to pass\, BYOB…\nWe will have water etc to supplement the other desired drinks.
