SUMMARY:Child of the Earth
DESCRIPTION:Child of the Earth class led by Grandfather Rick McBride. Long before the invention of organized religions\, there existed traditions that flourished throughout the “old world\,” or what academics call the physical world\, whether Earth Mother or Gaia\, and direct communication with and experience of those “other-worldly” beings\, variously named the prehistory. These ancient traditions resulted from recognizing the existence of the unseen\, or spirit world\, through the observation of the gods\, spirits\, ancestors\, guides\, or helper beings. In their exuberance to overthrow these “savage\,” or “pagan” ways of life\, the three major world religions of Judaism\, Islam\, and Christianity\, have sought to displace and expunge these natural\, tolerant\, compassionate\, and Earth friendly ways of life\, with devastating effects on the Earth as well. What is it to be “Earth friendly” today; can nonreligious people be “good” people; what is the phenomenological basis for either a heaven or a hell; how have religions influenced languages and how have languages influenced the behavior of nations; do people have direct experience with “spirits” today; and\, most importantly\, what of this survived\, where is it found\, and can it benefit the mainstream now? We will expand this discussion to include the recent mainstream awakening into what it calls “deep ecology\,” and where spiritually aware environmental activism fits in today’s world.\nRick McBride is mixedblood Tsalagi (Cherokee) who has walked the Red Road for over 35 years. He was named Cante Lute (Schan-tay Lou-tuh) by the spirits through his sundance chief\, which means Red Heart. He is a sundancer and has been traditionally trained and authorized to lead ceremonies\, such as inipi (purification lodge)\, prayer with the Canunpah (Pipe)\, drum healing and so forth. He has been publicly teaching these ways for over 12 years now. Workshops and lectures are one way to learn from the wisdom of Indian Country. Ceremony brings this knowledge to life. Combined\, teaching and ceremony render practical guidance to everyday living. And so\, Rick sees his role as that of “translator” of indigenous ways so that mainstream-educated people get the full benefit of these ways. It has taken him years of dedicated interaction with many Elders\, as well as his activities as ceremonial leader to get to this place in his life. \nFor further information\, visit his website: http://www.mixedblood.info (http://www.mixedblood.info/)

SUMMARY:Understanding Animals as Medicine Helpers class
DESCRIPTION:**Understanding Animals as Medicine Helpers class presented by Grandfather Rick McBride\, mixed-blood Cherokee. Prepayment of $25 required: Zelle to Cynthia Mong at 954-270-8939 (preferred) or Paypal https://paypal.me/iwt2016.**\nGrandfather Rick writes: “There exists a relationship between humans and non-humans\, physically\, intellectually\, emotionally\, and spiritually. Modern humans assume they are superior to non-humans. Indigenes have never assumed this. Western science is just now beginning to understand that non-humans have the same emotions as humans. Sometimes more deeply. They also display the same caring and support as humans inside their own species\, and many times beyond their species and they lack the avarice of humans. \nThis class will acquaint you with ways to understand animal “medicine” without books. As you build on this understanding\, you may find yourself caring more deeply about all animals\, even those you might now find difficult to accept. When this happens\, you will naturally extend your new awareness into all of nature. So\, in a very real sense\, understanding animals more completely and compassionately is a doorway into your deeper connection to the Earth Mother. \nWe’ll expand on the word “medicine\,” you will learn how to apply the medicine of an animal to your own life\, we will touch briefly on differences in language\, direct communication with animals\, and we’ll do a participatory exercise that will help you accept all animals as valuable\, intelligent and sentient beings. And we will have fun doing it. I encourage you to leave your assumptions and expectations at the door\, and to open your mind to a point of view that helped so-called pre-history people thrive for over 20\,000 years.” \n“Thank you\, Grandfather Rick\, for the EXCELLENT presentation that gave me a better understanding of the animal helpers and how to utilize them in my own life.” L.K. WPB \n“Very informative\, interesting and fun! I look forward to attending more classes and workshops. I found Grandfather Rick to be engaging\, accessible\, and down to earth.” C.A. Wellington \nRick McBride is a mixedblood Ani’yunwi’ya (Cherokee) who has practiced the Red Road ceremony for over 38 years. He was named Cante Lute (Schan-tay Lou-tuh) by the spirits through his sundance chief\, which means Red Heart. He is an 18 years sundancer and has been traditionally trained and authorized to lead ceremonies\, such as inipi (purification lodge)\, prayer with the Canunpah (Pipe)\, drum healing\, and so forth.

SUMMARY:Ancient Symbols\, Modern Guides
DESCRIPTION:Ancient Symbols\, Modern Guides lecture presented by Rick McBride\, mixed blood Cherokee\, $20 tuition fee.\nIn this lecture\, we will consider a number of ancient symbols left behind by the ancestors of this land. The purpose of this exploration is to tap into the deeper meanings of petroglyphs\, geoglyphs\, story hides\, totem art etc. in order to expand our connection not only to the spirit world but also with the Earth Mother through ceremony. These can be traditional ceremonies or personal ceremonies you create for yourself. There will be discussion of how ritual\, then ceremony evolved through the use of glyphs. If you have or intend to create Medicine Shields\, paint your hand drum\, or otherwise honor these artifacts in respectful ways\, this talk will be of particular interest to you. \nhttp://photos4.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/d/1/8/600_446943352.jpeg \nRick McBride is mixedblood Tsalagi (Cherokee) who has walked the Red Road for over 35 years. He has been publicly teaching these ways for over 17 years now.

SUMMARY:Introduction to Native American Spirituality class
DESCRIPTION:**This class is taught by Grandfather Rick McBride\, mixed blood Cherokee**; he writes “An open discussion of some of the spiritual views and practices common to Indian country with a focus on some of the ceremonies available to you locally. All are welcome. We’ll also discuss our approach to prayer and to the canunpah (cha-nuhn-pah; sacred pipe.) We will look at ceremony\, what it is\, how it differs from ritual. This is as much a relaxed two-way discussion\, where your questions are answered\, as it is a formal lecture.”\n**Pre-payment required $25**\n**[https://paypal.me/iwt2016 or Zelle: 954-270-8939 (preferred)](https://paypal.me/iwt2016%20or%20Zelle:%20954-270-8939%20(preferred))** \nGrandfather Rick McBride is mixedblood Ani’yunwi’ya (Cherokee) who has walked the Red Road ceremonially for over 40 years. He was named Cante Lute (Schan-tay Lou-tuh) by the spirits through his sundance chief\, which means Red Heart. He completed his 19th sundance on the Cheyenne River Res. in South Dakota and is traditionally trained and authorized to lead ceremonies\, such as inipi (purification lodge)\, prayer with the Canunpah (Pipe)\, drum healing\, and so forth. He has been publicly teaching these ways for over 16 years now. It has taken him many years of dedicated interaction with many Elders\, as well as his activities as a ceremonial leader to get to this place in his life.

SUMMARY:The Teachings of the Medicine Wheel 1 day Intensive class
DESCRIPTION:**The Teachings of the Native American Medicine Wheel presented by Grandfather Rick McBride (Mixed blood Cherokee) is a 1-day intensive\, limited to 5 participants. $75 deposit REQUIRED. Zelle payment to Cynthia Mong at 954-270-8939 (preferred) or https://paypal.me/iwt2016**\nThe Medicine Wheel is perhaps the single most profound “life tool” known in the ancient Americas. Nobody can say for sure just how old it is. But we do know it has survived into modern times for one reason; it works. It is at once a mirror\, reflecting your true nature back to you\, and a guide providing you with a clear path to get where you want to be. It is fluid\, dynamic\, accessible\, completely relevant\, and capable of helping you create a high-quality life. \nThe teaching of the original Medicine Wheel came to me from Heyemeohsts Storm\, a Cheyenne elder\, over 30 years ago. You will not find these teachings in any long-drawn out (expensive) workshop\, or Euro-centric book. You will be proficient in creating an effective Wheel that will yield immediate answers and guidance\, as well as start you on a journey of learning the Wheel on deeper levels\, at your pace and capacity. You need no previous knowledge of Red Road teachings to benefit from this incredible tool that has guided indigenes for literally thousands of years. \n$175 includes 45-page manual; for more details follow the link below:\nhttps://iwtstudio.org\nTo register\, RSVP on this page and make payment of deposit by 9/17. \nhttp://photos3.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/b/9/0/c/event_98507372.jpeg \nRick McBride is mixedblood Tsalagi (Cherokee) who has walked the Red Road for some 40 years. He was named Cante Lute (Schan-tay Lou-tuh) by the spirits through his sundance chief\, which means Red Heart. He is an 19 year sundancer and has been traditionally trained and authorized to lead ceremonies\, such as inipi (purification lodge)\, prayer with the Canunpah (Pipe)\, drum healing and so forth. He has been publicly teaching these ways for over 18 years now. It has taken him years of dedicated interaction with many Elders\, as well as his activities as ceremonial leader to get to this place in his life.\nDress comfortably\, bring hydrating drink\, lunch\, and floor cushion (if you like.)

SUMMARY:Native American Drumming Circle
DESCRIPTION:**Native American Drumming Circle is led by Grandfather Rick McBride and is on a donation basis.** Please arrive promptly: it is important for everyone to be present at the opening of the circle and please note the Circle is indoors. Grandfather Rick writes: “Drumming has long been understood as a prayer when we dedicate ourselves to it. In this Circle\, we honor traditional preparation\, we drum with Native American-style hand drums\, and songs are sung in the Lakota language (no songs in English). For serious\, respectful people only; once the Ceremony begins you are expected to stay to the end. Please join us. If you do not have a drum\, there will be drums to loan. There is no charge for the Ceremony\, but donations are accepted to support the continuation of the Circle. It is traditional for women to wear skirts\, dresses or sarongs to Native American Ceremony.” \nGrandfather Rick McBride (Grandfather is an honorary title in Native American tradition) is mixedblood Ani’yunwi’ya (Tsalagi or Cherokee) who has walked the Red Road for over 40 years. He was named Cante Lute (Schan-tay Lou-tuh) by the spirits through his Sundance chief\, which means Red Heart. He is a Sundancer and completed his 19th Sundance on the Cheyenne River Reservation in South Dakota; he has been traditionally trained and authorized to lead ceremonies\, such as inipi (purification lodge)\, prayer with the Canunpah (Pipe)\, drum healing\, and so forth. He has been publicly teaching these ways for over 16 years now. It has taken him years of dedicated interaction with many Elders\, as well as his activities as a ceremonial leader to get to this place in his life.
